Experimenting with Photoshop: Sky overlay

There is a photo which I’ve taken some time last year during the Tulips Festival which I really love. I loved the impromptu pose the little girl did, it was a perfect composition for me and everything seems pretty perfect except one thing…. There’s too many people behind. For a long time I’ve wanted to somehow crop out the ppl behind but I couldn’t. That’s until I’ve discovered the “sky overlay” action using photoshop.

I’m a complete noob when it comes to photoshop. I’ve hardly done any at all. But thanks to the internet, you can pretty much 1. find free sky overlaying tools and images and 2. find a tutorial on how to do it.

This is my first attempt in using a photoshop for picture purposes. I’ve always post edited my photos only using lightroom for some basic adjustments but never used a photoshop. So i’m pretty excited with the results. What do you guys think? Of course, there’s imperfections especially where the leaves and sky merge when you zoom in. However, I think it look alright for a first attempt. Here’s my before and after photo. Do comment below if you have any tips to improve this.
